Major Fields (a) Science in early modern Europe. (b) Science in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. (c) Science in the twentieth century. (d) Another field of comparable breadth, defined in consultation with the major field adviser. 2.
First and Second Minor Fields (a) Science Studies (mandatory for students in the Science Studies program). (b) Any of the other fields offered by the department, provided that it offers general historical understanding of the same period as the major field. (c) A field of History of Science not chosen as the major field. (d) A second field of history, provided that it concentrates on a period or region other than that chosen for the first minor field.
