TRANSFER STUDENT INFORMATIONWELCOME TO UCSD! The following is general information about the major in history for transfer students. NOTE: All Community College courses are transferred as lower division. Lower division sequences: HILD 2ABC (U.S. History); HILD 7ABC (Race and Ethnicity/US), HILD 10-11-12 (East Asian History) AP U.S. History: Students with a score of 3 or better, has fulfilled two lower division courses HILD 2A and HILD 2B. Students may chose ONE lower division course from any of the following sequences: HILD 2C, HILD 7ABC, or HILD 10-11-12. STEP-BY-STEP CHECKLISTStep 1: Print your major requirements checklist from here. Step 2: Check on ASSIST www.assist.org , the official source for California articulation and student transfer information. You will find out how your lower division courses transfer. If your History courses are not listed on ASSIST.ORG contact the History Student Affairs Office. The Department of History can only give credit for courses that have been officially transferred to UCSD. The units must be posted on your UCSD transcript. Step
3: Print
the 2-year major plan here
(print History Honors track here).
Major plan assumes you have completed the lower division requirement
for the major at the Junior College. We strongly recommend taking
three courses (12 units) for the first quarter. You will
need to check with your college advisor for any GE deficiencies. Step 4: Review the Schedule of Classes on TritionLink and the History's Course Offerings before contacting History's Student Affairs Advisors. Have a few courses listed when you either call or email the department advisors. The Student Affairs Advisors will give you authorization to add into a course (student will need to enroll on TritonLink during their enrollment time.) Step 5: Contact your college with your proposed schedule. Then enroll in classes during your enrollment time. Step 6: Make an appointment with the Student Affairs Advisor any time during the quarter to go over your 2-year plan and to understand the major requirements. Student Advising hours are Monday-Friday 9:30-11:30 am, 1:30-3:30 pm, and by appointment. Good luck next quarter. If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.
